Die fotos lyk absoluut amazing!! Ons is SO gelukkig!
Thank you so much for sending these- we have so enjoyed looking through them and reliving the moments they captured.
I am passionate about what I do and easy to get along with. I shot my first wedding in 2010 and over two hundred weddings later I still love it.
An important part of wedding photography is to leave room for the unexpected and playful moments. These moments just happen and are not the same moments at every wedding. Being easy going as a photographer creates the space for the couple to to enjoy their day and let the good stuff just happen.
I like to capture these special, spontaneous moments shared by you and your loved ones and blend them with nature’s beauty as a backdrop. This is the foundation of my photographic style and helps me tell your love story, making it timeless.
I could go on and tell you about how I like spending time in our national parks, good coffee, and how I prefer real interaction over social media, but that’s not why you’re here.
You’re here because your wedding is a big deal and perhaps you like what you see on my website. If so, I would love to hear from you!
Ellen is my lovely wife who has covered almost all of the 200 weddings with me. She is the most loving and patient person I know. She is bonkers about dogs and spending time outdoors. Over the years she has turned me into a camper and taught me to appreciate the cold. On the day she is my right hand who helps me move quickly and remain focused on what is important to your day.
She is an accomplished second shooter, wielder of light and is becoming the maker of epic highlight videos. Her videos effortlessly capture the feel and emotion of the day.
She works to capture the natural flow and rhythm of the day, leaving you free to be in the moment and enjoy your celebration. One of her favourite parts of capturing a wedding is catching the brief, almost secretive looks that pass between the bride and groom throughout the day.
YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED
YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED
Do you charge per hour?
Not usually. We do not base our packages on hours unless the couple wants an hourly package. This means that we try to start coverage around 10:30am and only require that you schedule your day so that we can travel home around by 10pm. This way you do not have to skimp on the preparation or the celebration and it allows us enough time to capture photos of the entire day. When the bride and groom gets ready close to one another, we also have time to get photos of the guys. *We do offer a shorter packages for winter and morning weddings on request.
How experienced are you at wedding photography?
Very. I have photographed over 200 weddings.
Do you make videos as well?
Yes, but we only make 3-5 minute highlight videos to the tune of awesome music. *We do not record sound on the day. Our videos are aimed at couples who really want an epic highlight video but does not want the expense or obtrusion of a full videography crew.
How are travel costs calculated?
Travel is calculated at R3 per kilometer. When the venue is more than 120km from Cape Town, accommodation arrangements will be discussed with the couple and charged at cost. Sometimes it makes more sense to fly than to drive.
Where are you based and do you travel for weddings?
I’m based in Cape Town and will gladly travel to cover your wedding.
Do you work with an assistant?
Yes, Ellen assists me at most weddings. Having her around makes things go a lot smoother and will help you get the most from the time we have to shoot. When Ellen shoots highlight videos we prefer to bring an additional assistant along to help us carry and second shoot when necessary.
How do you dress when you shoot a wedding?
We try to be dressed as neatly as possible and will blend in well with your guests. If your wedding is strictly formal, just let us know and we will suit-up.
If you have not been to a specific venue before, how will you know where to go to take photos?
When we shoot at new venues we arrive early and scout the best locations before the day gets going.
What can we do to make help get the best photos possible?
Good light, good locations and good vibes makes for awesome photos.
If you want the best light, you need to plan for it…a couple shoot done at 3pm in summer will never look as good as on done in the last hour or so before sunset. The light becomes much softer and this makes everything look more beautiful. When choosing a place to get ready, keep in mind that bigger windows and more natural light will make you photos so much better. If you are getting married outside, plan the layout so that you can stand with your backs to the sun, otherwise you might end up frowning a lot and having weird shadows all over.
I’m sure you’ve looked at wedding photos and gone, “WOW, that is a beautiful location”. Keep in mind that locations like those will usually require a bit of walk on the wild side and having a pair of flat shoes handy will make this a lot easier. Most venues in the Cape have beautiful locations close by, but if yours does not, remember to add time for driving around into your schedule.
Any tips for the day?
Finish your planning before the wedding day and then try your best to just enjoy it all and be present in every moment. It goes by really fast and you do not want to be wasting it by worrying about small things.
Jonas Peterson said it best: “At the center of every wedding we have a girl. Who fell in love with a boy. Or a girl who fell in love with a girl. Or a boy who fell in l… you get my point. The rest is fluff.”
How do we book you?
Get in touch from the “contact us” section section. I’ll send you my availability and packages. If you want to meet to discuss anything or get to know me a bit, just let me know and and we can grab a coffee. You will secure the date by paying the required deposit and sending back the signed contract. Then we’ll setup a date for our consultation closer to the wedding. It’s that easy.
